Dresden Gallery
Dresden Gallery in second life I have to say, I think is one of the most awe inspiring places I have seen so far.
Firstly some background on Dresden Gallery. Situated in the real world in East Germany, Dresden Gallery is the most famous home of Raphael’s Little Cherubs. Dresden contains great masterpieces and classics from painters such as Giorgion, Titian and Rembrandt to name but a few. Here in SL all 700 permanent displays at the real life Dresden can be seen here.
You land in the middle of the most beautiful courtyard, similar to classic stately homes with pristine manicured gardens and water pools. It’s obvious from first landing that this place has been thought about and there has been a HUGE attention to detail here.
The outer buildings and conservatories are textured in the highest standard but are merely for show. You cannot enter into them; the only building you can go into is the gallery itself. What a sight to behold, large ceilings with intricate designs, chandeliers and stairways. As you walk silently through the gallery here and soak up the art and the atmosphere you feel like you are actually in this building and not looking at it through the eyes of your computer.
I have been playing second life for nearly a year now, personally I do not think I have found something that is quite as amazing as this place, I urge you all, builders, artists, general public to go and look. Soak up some of the culture in this area, really you will not regret it. GO THERE NOW
